Acceptable Humanities or Social Science Subject Areas (for B.Sc.(Agr) students)

The following is the list which states acceptable courses under the definition of "humanities and social sciences". The list was last revised in March 2025. BLCK, CREA, CRWR, JLS, SXGN and UNIV 2010 were added at this time. If you are in an older calendar and wish to count one of these, please contact your program counsellor. This list is applicable for all calendar years. 

Please note: This list applies only to students in the B.Sc.(Agr.) degree program.

All courses that are in the following subjects at the 1000 level or above are acceptable unless specific courses in a subject area are listed. Please be aware of prerequisites when selecting your courses.

  • ANSC 1210 (for students starting in the 2015-2016 calendar year, those in the Animal Science major will not be allowed to use ANSC 1210 as a humanities and social sciences course; all other majors may use it for this requirement).
  • ANSC 2210 (replaces ANSC 1210 as of Winter 2023 and cannot be used by Animal Science students)
